I think this site is awesome, I have posted on a variety of picture on here. Thank you for all the support from the families who don't and do have loved ones overseas. And also ones who have been lost and families devastated. My son is due to come home in April (hopefully). If there are loved ones out there who's family member is getting ready to leave for deployment and you would like to talk, I am willing to listen, there were people there for me when my son first left. It is time for me to do the same for others, that is the hardest thing I have ever went through when he first left and no it does not get easier as time goes but you learn to cope with it in you own way. My son is on page #20, the third row down, last picture on the right. That is him and his wife when he came home on leave in July for the birth of his daughter. That is when I got to see him. Because he was deployed in 5 days with no forwarning so I was not able to see him before he was deployed and that was very hard for me not to be able to give him a hug before he left. Anyways Mark thank your for this site it gives us somewhere to show how proud we are of our troops past or present. God bless to all of the families and the troops you are in my prayers everyday. Proud mom of a 82nd Airborne Soldier currently deployed. Kellie

hi everyone, PLEASE READ THIS!! my son has been diagnosed with MRSA. This is a staph infection that is very resistant to antibiotics. This started out just looking like a small spider bite! He is on IV antibiotics now and thank god, seems to be responding to them. He is seeing an infectious disease specialist & it has been determined that he more than likely contracted MRSA at drill. It is very common in crowded places. Thankfully we caught it early enough. What we thought was a spider bite just happened to be close to his eye & swelled up pretty high overnight. Everyone told me I was being paranoid, but hey, i'm a mom! I took him to the E.R. & next thing you know...Bloodwork,I.V.s, & Specialists. here are some facts & links MRSA skin infections can occur anywhere. • Some settings have factors that make it easier for MRSA to be transmitted. • These factors, referred to as the 5 C's, are as follows: Crowding, frequent skin-to-skin Contact, Compromised skin (i.e., cuts or abrasions), Contaminated items and surfaces, and lack of Cleanliness. • Locations where the 5 C's are common include schools, dormitories, military barracks, households, correctional facilities, and daycare centers. http://cdc.gov/Features/MRSAinSchools/#q1 http://www.visualdxhealth.com/diseaseGroups/mrsa.htm

What a wonderful site this is! I opened it yesterday and got goosebumps and filled with tears at all the pictures of those serving our country. The magnitude of it all is overwhelming. My deepest thank yous to all of you, both those shown here and those that aren't for the service you provide in defending this land of ours. My husband is retired Army, a 1stSgt. I have a niece and new nephew both marines, my son was in the navy, and I have another nephew in the airforce. So you can see we are quite the military oriented family. I am honored to be a part of this group and look forward to making new friends here.

I like the new getting acquainted feature that you introduced today. It's a great way to expand your horizons and share information. Take a little risk and meet a friend! This seems like a nice site with uplifting goals. Those who have loved ones that are deployed will find people who are caring and supportive.

Is anybody interested in sharing information about working dogs in the military, or memories of special dogs? We don't hear much about them.

I just read about the development of an easy to use website--www.socialsecurity.gov/wounded warriors, that provides information about Social Security and military service. It includes a link to apply for disability benefits online. The VA will now electronically provide Social Security with medical records of veterans applying for disability benefits. This helps to expedite the application process. Hope this helps someone avoid some red tape.

Note from Americasupportsyou.mil People can text a message of thanks to 8-9-2-7-9, beginning at 6am EST on Saturday, November 17, and ending at midnight, PDT on November 22, Thanksgiving Day. Within a matter of seconds, the sender will receive a reply on their cell phone from America Supports You. The reply message will come from a member of the Armed Forces who is currently serving, expressing his/her appreciation for the support, both personally and on behalf of others who are serving. The goal is to get people to take a moment during the Thanksgiving Day holiday to think about those who are serving this nation, and take an action that signifies they appreciate their sacrifices. Giving Thanks is expected to be a unifying moment for the nation, during a time in which families traditionally come together and express gratitude for things large and small that contribute to their lives. The United States currently has troops serving in 177 countries. The troops and their families will be told how many people have texted in their thanks and will get to see many of the messages. All of the major mobile wireless providers—AT&T Wireless (Cingular), Verizon, Sprint (Nextel, Qwest), and T-Mobile provide access to The America Supports You Text Message program. There will be no upcharge. About America Supports You Since its formation two and a half years ago, the America Supports You program has welcomed over 300 grassroots organizations and 35 corporate sponsors to its team. Many America Supports You team members support the troops through letter writing, care packages, helping the wounded when they return home, assisting military families, sending an email or making a kind gesture—to learn more about how you can help please visit www.americasupportsyou.mil

I just want to say thank you to you guys and bringing all of us together. My husband is currently deployed and will be back in 14 months.....its nice to know that there are so many people that support our troops. Seems like these days you hear more about the people opposed to the war and the troops in it....which just makes me want to flaunt it that much more...how proud I am of my husband and the dear friends that we have made. So to Donnie, Russ, Stan, Strickler and the rest of our troops over there.....THANK YOU! And thank you to everyone here for all your support. It means SO much!!

Let's say thanks.....pass it on Something cool that Xerox is doing: If you go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com you can pick out a thank you card. Then Xerox will print it and send it to a soldier currently serving in Iraq. You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to some member of the armed services. This is a great site. Please send a card. It is FREE and it only takes a second. Whether you are for or against the war, our guys and gals over there need to know we are behind them... PLEASE DO THIS AND THEN FORWARD ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW.
